Establishment of the Donabate/Portrane Community Liaison Committee
The process to establish a Community Liaison Committee for the Donabate/Portrane area commenced in September 2016 with over 30 expressions of interest received. In conjunction with the local Councillors those who expressed interest were divided between the following categories:
- Residents Associations/Community Council/Community Centre
- Commercial/Business Interests
- Culture/Arts/Heritage
- School/Youth
- Sports/Recreation
Those who expressed interest in being involved were invited to a meeting in Donabate Community Centre on 30th March 2017 and as 12 people attended it was decided, in conjunction with the Councillors present, that they would form the Community Liaison Committee for the Donabate/Portrane area. The following have indicated their willingness to participate on the committee:
Will Lee | Jacinta Lowndes |
Elaine Downey | Gareth Lee |
Wayne Hand | Breda Dockrell |
Des Culleton | Ray O’Rourke |
Andrea Wilson | Brian Horan |
Eilish McDermott | Ciara Greene |
The first meeting of Donabate/Portane Community Liaison Committee took place on 30th August. The Committee was established following a call for expressions of interest in late 2016.
Our local Councillors also sit on the Committee and the first meeting was chaired by Cllr. Adrian Henchy who is the Deputy Mayor of Fingal.
The Donabate/Portrane Community Liaison Committee is a forum to exchange information, understand more about Council functions and services and how to influence them. It is a partnership between the elected members, local/community interests and business interests. The Committee is a vehicle to discuss and review local issues and to help promote a better understanding and relevance of local democracy. The Committee will meet between 3 and 6 times a year.
