Donabate Portrane, IPB Pride of Place Competition

Community-Council-website-header-image1.png The Annual IPB Pride of Place Competition is about to kick off in earnest and Fingal will be represented this year in the “5000+ population category” by the community of Donabate Portrane.

Pride of place is an All-Ireland competition which showcases the best in community achievement on the island. The competition is organised by Co-operation Ireland and is open to every local Authority north and south to nominate groups to represent their county.

Judges on July 20th will be see  a peninsula rich by sea and land. Where  past, present and future meet.  A part of Fingal that weaves Vikings, rebels, immigrants, gentry of old, artists, sailors, shipwrecks, ecclesiastical establishments  all into its rich tapestry of present. A community alive in sport, art, culture, history &.festivals join young and old in song, dance, drama & sport. They will meet the characters and groups that have evolved to create a vibrant integrated community.

Already a network of key community players meet in Donabate Portrane Community Centre to put together a comprehensive itinerary for the day and a presentation which will showcase how communities and agencies work best together in the area.  We are proud to be selected as part of Fingal’s representatives for this year’s Pride of Place

Judging in the competition takes place over two days 20th and 21st of July – with the island-wide finals taking place in Belfast in November .  Fingers crossed the sun will shine on July 20th.
