The people of Donabate/Portrane today welcomed the opening of the new library in the Community Centre.
The long awaited library finally opened its doors after months of conversion work to the upper floor of the centre. While small the new library looks great and everything is brand new from the shelving to the lighting and everything in between.
The new library offers the latest technical innovations including self-service borrowing, returns and renewals of items, underpinned by the services and help of professionally qualified library staff. Users of the library can borrow the latest selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, DVDs both single and boxed sets, music CD’s, and language sets all for a 3 week period and prints for 3 months. Users can also recommend particular titles for purchase.
An extremely well-resourcedspace, the library is equipped with 24 Public access PCs with automated booking, free Wi-Fi, and a quiet room where PCs have a full range of assistive technology for users with different levels of ability.
The quiet room also has a Smartboard for IT seminars and workshops. A Surfbox print and photocopy station enables users to email print jobs to the library where for a small charge print jobs can be released in black and white or colour, so no more last minute panics for school projects. Just pop into the library and print it off.
