Blue Flag Ireland recently released the list of beaches awarded the 2014 Blue Flag.
Four Fingal beaches were awarded Blue Flags two of which are on the Donabate/Portrane peninsula. This is great news for residents and visitors to the area to have two top quality beaches on our doorstep.
The four Fingal beaches awarded Blue Flags are Donabate, Portrane, Portmarnock and Skerries South Beach.
In order to be eligible for the Blue Flag a beach or marina must comply with strict criteria relating to water quality, safety, facilities for visitors, beach management including litter control, environmental education and the provision of information.
The Blue Flag programme is funded in Ireland by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.

Donabate, Portrane, Portmarnock and Skerries South Beach were among the 134 recipients of the Blue Flag Award at a special awards ceremony which took place on Skerries South Beach on Wed. 4th. June 2014.
